History of Golf at Moscow Country Club - Russia The idea of building a championship golf course in Russia, dates back to the early 1970s when leaders of the Russian Government invited Dr. Armand Hammer to Russia, an American executive with a voracious entrepreneurial spirit. The purpose of this meeting was to find out what Russia needed to entice Western business. Dr. Hammer’s legendary answer - limousines and a golf course. In 1988 the idea became a reality when construction began on what, six years later, would become Russia’s first 18-hole golf course. Golfers find a “Fairway to Heaven” on the immaculate greens nestled within the beautiful birch forest located in charming Nakhabino, only 15 km from Outer Ring Road (MKAD). The Club boasts a magnificent 18-hole, 7015 yard championship golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr to harmonize the natural beauty of the countryside with the highest international standards in golf. In recognition of the uniqueness and quality of the par-72 course, the European PGA has endorsed the Club, ranking it with the world’s most prestigious clubs. Since its opening in 1993, the Moscow Country Club has become the permanent venue for a number of major golf competitions, including the Russian Open, the country’s first professional golf tournament. The golf course is open from May to October. In addition to its championship golf course the Resort boasts a large Sports Complex, residential village of 54 timber built dachas & 14 townhouses, Golf Restaurant & Club House and a 131 room international five star Hotel and Business Center. With 131 guest rooms including full conference facilities with 10 modern meeting rooms and a 247 seat Auditorium - it’s the perfect place to conduct business, relax or do both. This resort for all seasons offers a full range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities, that are available year round for family fun that include mini-golf, computerized golf simulator, outdoor/indoor swimming pools, tennis courts and a natural lake with its own sandy beach, 4 restaurants & 4 Bars, individual Hungarian style barbecues, sand volleyball, paddle boats and fishing. A great place to enjoy good food, fun and friends. In essence though, the golf course is the central feature of the facility. Golf is being increasingly promoted as a healthy sporting activity for all age groups and is being viewed by the Russian Government as a sport, which can develop friendships among children and adults, as well as among politicians and business people nationally and internationally. It is recognised that golf and the Moscow Country Club, provide the informal and social atmosphere where executives of Russian and international industry can meet and forge relationships. Moscow Country Club has been the venue for European Tour event, the Russian Open since its inauguration, and also hosts the annual President of Russia Golf Cup. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Moscow Country Club」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
